Adult Care Homes

Adult Care Homes (ACH) are located in residential areas throughout the Portland tri-county area. You may not even recognize an ACH in your neighborhood, unless there is signage for advertising. There are no more than five residents at a time living in an ACH.

Adult Care Home prices can range anywhere from $2500-$4500 per month.

ACH’s are typically less expensive than Assisted Living Facilities.

The base cost of an ACH includes:

  • Room, Meals, Laundry, and Specified Basic Services

In addition to the base cost, there may be care costs based on the needs of the client. Examples of these additional costs can include but are not limited to:

  • Toileting Assistance
  • Grooming/ Hygiene Assistance
  • Transfer/ Mobility Assistance
  • Behavior Monitoring/ Cognitive Assistance
  • Hospice Care
  • Eating Assistance
  • Dressing Assistance

Who pays for Adult Care Homes?

  • Medicare does not pay for ACH.
  • Medicaid may pay for Adult Care Homes, if the home carries a Medicaid contract. This does not guarantee that a home will accept Medicaid clients.
  • Most Long Term Care Insurance policies will pay for Adult Care Homes, as long as the policy-holder meets certain requirements for care.
  • Private Pay
